GLM's Latest Production Premieres in July
Playwright in Residence, Christopher Daniels, is the author of our upcoming production, Last Call at the Old Southwest. The play examines specific moments throughout LGBT history in a dive drag cabaret bar known as the Old Southwest. Owner and star, Mother Mary, deals with her want for love and acceptance in a time where both are in short supply.
Daniels wrote a one-man show entitled "UNDRESSED: A One Weave Show" under the guise of his drag queen later ego, Miss Ginger Devine. Daniels won Sierra Arts 2014 Grant for theatre. You can click on the video below to see a short clip from the show. Last Call opens July 3rd and runs through til August 1st. Click here in order to purchase tickets. "BRAVE NEW WORKS AT GLM"
We are so thrilled and excited for our 2015 season; we will make announcements about the upcoming year shortly. Here's a little tidbit. Our 2015 Playwright in Residence is Christopher Daniels. Daniels, who most recently wrote and starred in his own one-man show at GLM, is working fervently on a new project that is set to premiere next year. However, in order to complete his project he needs your help! He is looking for personal anecdotes, stories, and feelings relating to LGBTQ culture and the bar scene over the past 50 years - specifically 1973, 1993, and 2013. You do not need to identify as LGBTQ in order to fill out the survey, as long as you have experience with the LGBTQ community. All responses are anonymous. Daniels will simply use responses to ensure his work is historically accurate and reflects authentic emotions of the time. Thank you in advance for you help! |
